Katnap Dance Center12932 Venice Blvd. Los Angeles, CA 90066(310) 306-7069

Class descriptionThis class consists of a series of repetitive movement phrases
that
move across the floor. We start with walking. The walking leads to
running and from there into more complex movement patterns. These
patterns engage one's use of space, time and weight in a logical,
anatomical approach. This class has been developed after years of
research and teaching and is informed by several sources: the work of
MinTinaka's Body Weather Laboratory, yoga, modern dance technique and
ethnic dance forms such as African and Egyptian dance. It is a class
that offers a rigorous training for experienced dancers at the same
time is organic and logical in its structure for the beginner.

American Ballet Intensives

- American Ballet Intensives announces its upcoming workshop at Encore Dance,
Denver, Colorado April 20 to April 22, 2007.
- American Ballet Intensives announces its upcoming workshop at The Studios
of Ballet Pacifica Irvine, CA April 9 to April 14, 2007.
American Ballet Intensives is an intensive ballet workshop providing serious
students the opportunity to study with professionals in the field. The benefits
are numerous and include: a customizable program to fit each individual school,
an ideal format for younger dancers preparing for their first summer intensive,
or for advanced dancers seeking a "pre-summer brush-up" for their
technique, small class sizes to facilitate individual attention, live piano
accompaniment, and the prestigious world-class faculty of Warren Conover,
Melissa Hale Coyle, Steven Hyde, Lorin Johnson, Charles Maple, Colleen O'Callaghan,
Amy Rose, and Denise Warner-Limoli. Lawrence Pech, Alaine Haubert and Rory
Foster
The faculty is dedicated to nurturing dancers in a caring and healthy environment
that not only challenges the students but improves confidence, concentration,
and overall strength and coordination.
The goal at ABI is to provide intensive instruction in a wide variety of dance
classes in order to fine-tune, condition, and provide careful coaching for
students in both the classical and contemporary repertoire of today's great
ballet companies. All ballet technique, pointe, pas de deux and variations
classes, as well as additional programs such as dance history or body conditioning
classes, are taught by former members of major dance companies--professionals
in the field who have an innate understanding of what it takes to succeed
in today's world. Within this intensive program students not only improve
markedly, but they are empowered, enriched and inspired by these world class
instructors.
Whether students are interested in overall strengthening and knowledge of
their craft or in preparing a variation for an up-and-coming competition,
ABI gives young dancers the opportunity to gain rapid mastery and confidence
in their dancing for an extra professional edge.
